Carol’s talent and abilities were sought by Harowe Servo Controls (St. Kitts) Ltd in 1984. He started at the manufacturing facility as the Machinist, and in1985 became the Machine Shop Supervisor. Carol later obtained a Certificate in Manufacturing Techniques and Material Requirement Planning in 1987 from Penn State University.
In 1989-1994 Carol was appointed as Manufacturing Engineer, a post which he held for five years until he was appointed to the position of Plant Manager in 1994. In 2000 he became General Manager, the position he now holds until today.
Carol’s community and voluntary services are quite extensive. The highlights of these activities include the following:
As President of CAIC, Mr Carol Evelyn brings to the Board of the Caribbean Association of Industry and Commerce Inc (CAIC) a considerable wealth of knowledge and business experience, a backdrop against which he fully intends to represent, to the best of his ability, the interests of the region’s diverse private sector.
Nigel A. John was born in Grenada on December 20, 1971 and moved with his family to Guyana, at a very tender age, where he began his academic learning. His formative years were shared between Guyana, Trinidad and his native Grenada. Nigel received his tertiary education at University of the West Indies graduating from St. Augustine with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering in 1993. Mr. John went on the complete post-graduate short courses in Project Management, Procurement and Alternative Dispute Resolution over subsequent years.
Upon graduation from UWI Nigel joined his father’s Consulting Engineering firm in Grenada, Joseph John and Associates Ltd., as a graduate Engineer, where he remained until the end of 1997. In January 1998 Nigel travelled to Botswana where he lived and worked on contract with the Government of Botswana as a Civil, charged with managing the construction of government buildings in rural communities, as well as the improvement of, and delivery of training in, local tendering procedures. Nigel’s persistent urge to contribute to the social landscape resulted in his voluntary assistance to the Southern Africa regional UNICEF office in the design of hostels as well as curriculum development for schools dedicated to the education and training of Remote Area Dwellers in Botswana.
Late in 2000 Nigel returned to Grenada and rejoined the family firm but after little more than a year took leave to take up a local, two-year appointment as Procurement Specialist/Engineer with a World Bank Project Co-ordination Unit attached to the Ministry of Finance, a contract that terminated normally in May 2002. Nigel is now the Managing Director of Joseph John and Associates Ltd.
On his return from Botswana Nigel became very active within the Grenada Chamber of Industry and Commerce and became a Board member then First Vice President in 2002 and 2003 respectively. Nigel was elected President in 2004 and completed his third consecutive term in April 2007. In addition to these duties Nigel served as President of the Scout Association of Grenada and continues to serve on the High Court Annexed Mediation Committee in Grenada. In 2005 Nigel was appointed Vice President of the CAIC and elected CAIC President on June 8, 2007.
